October 30, 2004

The Radiators did their legendary thang of overtly yet hugely one upping from great to the best over the 2 long robust nights at the comfy Aragon Ballroom. This the 2nd freakingasmic night “Dance of the 7 Deadly Sins” rose past climax many times ending in what Dave Malone reputedly called (though quite inebriatedly in the wee hours party realm) possibly that this is sad to be among the top best Rads show in their soon to be 27 years as a demented rock band. The show’s opener jam went into “Spanish Moon” [“there were hookers & hustlers & bad cocaine”] into “Salty Jane” & other highlights of the 1st set were: “The Girl with the Golden eyes”, “7 Devils”, “Freakin at the Freaker’s Ball (to the tune of Shel Silverstein’s w/ modified lyrics), “City of Refuge” morphed into “Jump into the Fire” before returning to “City of Refuge”. Then 2nd set highpoints were the whole filthy thing in all its funk so here it is: “these boots are made for walkin”, “Law of the Fish” > “I walk on guilded splinters” > “cannibal girls” (they do exactly what you think they might do...) > Huddie Ledbetter’s “out on the western plains”, “Where were you at?” > “Hot Lube” > “green River” > “(I’d rather be) Blind Crippled & Crazy”, “Come Together”, “I’m gonna move to the outskirts of town” > “Little Sadie” > “Tomorrow Never Knows” (tease) > “Magic Bus” & for the encores: “Dead Flowers” > “Pressure Drop” > “Dead Flowers”, “Paint it Black” (!). The Dance of the 7 Deadly Sins” had ruined yet another freak down to the soul. Me. But I mean that in the best of ways. A time of my life was had by me & others too. Speak Zeke. The language of choice (moist). The One that matters (most).
